North Down XC Relays

Eight 3 man teams competed in the Vets race in this years North Down XC Relay held on Saturday. North Belfast retained their title with Paul Murphy, Davy Clarke and Eddie Burns making up the winning team. Eddie ran the fastest leg of the day. In second place came the Lagan Valley A team with Andy Edwards, Terry Eakin and Fred Hammond. Third position went to Ballydrain Harriers with Jim Hayes, Ronnie Rutherford and Trevor White. Representing NIVAA was Bertie Grimason, John McKeag and Jim Metcalfe. Well done to all athletes.

North Down won their own promotion - Jamie Budde with the fastest 1 mile stage put themahead on the first lap with Ray Adams of Lagan Valley next. Francis Marsh ran the quickest 2 miles to keep the home side clear of Paul Blaney of North at halfway then it was Simon Seaton and Charlie Sanson completing the job. Andy Mckee moved Annadale up 4 places to 2nd with Newcastle 3rd.

Lyndsey Monteith, Caroline Brown and Rachel Gibson gave City of Lisburn gold in the ladies after Newcastle's Kerry Harty had the fastest run of the day on the opening stage. City of Lisburn girls and North Down boys were also successful. The East Antrim ladies were also out in force with Marion Hayes, Jeanette Burton & Fran Wright making up the team. Looking good ladies!
