Africans
triumphed in both main races held in perfect conditions at this years
Stormont International Cross Country. Alistair Cragg set Irish eyes smiling
by taking the early lead but it was holder Dathan Ritzenhein who came
through at the end of the first lap with Cragg and four Africans on his
heels.
After three circuits the American was still ahead but two 19 year olds
Barnabas Kosgei and Moses Kipsiro were looking good and it was the Kenyan
and Ugandan who moved away to fight out the finish with Kosgei, 3rd last
year, winning by just one second. Joe Mcallister led the home side in
13th with Paddy Hamilton 34th, Deane Fisher 39th and Paul Pollock 42nd.
Greg Hull fron Northern Counties surprised Guy Amos and Alan Mccullough,
the top two in Dublin by winning the vets. The race was graced with Dave
Morwood in the MV35 category and Peter Savage is doing well. Frankie Davidson
continues to improve along with Eddie Burns. Brian Stewart looked like
he was getting some form back.
